Monika Konieczka

Registered Acupuncturist

My name is Monika Konieczka. I am a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture of British Columbia. I have postgraduate training in myofascial pain, various Acupuncture Injection Therapies and Regenerative Medicine. I have studied and am certified by Dr. Shallenberger MD for Prolozone; Dr. Lyftoff MD for Perineural; Prolotherapy and Trigger Point with Dr. Andrew Taylor Dr.TCM; Neural therapy with Dr. Jeff Harris ND among others. I singularly combine my knowledge of Orthopedic Acupuncture with the Dr. Vodder MLD Lymphatic Drainage Massage and offers comprehensive pain management care.

I have a sincere desire to relieve my clients’ suffering with integrity, compassion and a lifelong love of learning. My main areas of focus are pain and sports medicine, digestive health, emotional wellbeing, gynaecology and women’s health. My practice includes the use of Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion, Prolotherapy, PRP, Perineural Therapy, Myofascial Trigger Point Release, Prolozone, Nutritional Support, Tui-Na and Chi Nei Tsang Massage, Lifestyle Counseling, Meditation and Therapeutic Yoga Coaching.

I have always had a passion for wellness. As the daughter of a nurse, I developed a keen desire to educate myself on the complexities of the human body. My formal inquiry into health began at the University of British Columbia in Nutritional Sciences where I worked as a Wellness Educator at the Wellness Centre. During this time I took a leadership role as Vice President of the Alternative Integrative Medicine Society (AIMS), and, in partnership with local wellness practitioners, lead regular workshops and organized annual wellness symposiums with over 400 attendees.

As a Nutritional Consultant, I combined factual knowledge with client-centered care. Fascinated by the Eastern concept of, “Let food be thy medicine,” I integrated the deeper connections between health and diet in my practice and devoted my studies to Oriental Medicine.

I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with 800 hours of international training in India, Thailand, Mexico and Canada. I practice Karma, Laya and Tantra Yoga, I’ve studied Hridaya meditation, I am initiated in the teachings of the Agamas, Mahavidyas, Kuala, Kriya, Bhairava Tantra and Trika. I consider wellness practitioners to be living models of health and harmony. To nurture this commitment I have a daily yoga and meditation practice and regularly attend extended silent meditation retreats.

I am passionate about combining my knowledge of Western science with Eastern wisdom and yogic disciplines to address disease and imbalances at the most appropriate level of cause. I believe Integrative Medicine (allopathic medicine uniting with traditional medical systems) offers a new and dynamic approach to well-being by merging modern and ancient traditions.

As an attentive and diligent Acupuncturist, I am dedicated to using my knowledge of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture and Yoga to guide individuals toward balanced, inspired self-care, and, ultimately, to actualize their true ‘Ming’ (‘Destiny’ in Chinese).

I am currently in the 4 year Naturopathic Program at The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine. I am continuing my Acupuncture Practice alongside my studies and I look forward to sharing this middle-path of balance with you!
