Monika Konieczka R.Ac

Monika Konieczka's formal inquiry into health began at the University of British Columbia in Nutritional Sciences where she worked as a Wellness Educator at the Wellness Centre. During this time she took a leadership role as Vice President of the Alternative Integrative Medicine Society (AIMS), and, in partnership with local wellness practitioners, lead regular workshops and organized annual wellness symposiums with over 400 attendees.

As a Nutritional Consultant, Monika integrated factual knowledge with client-centered care. She was fascinated by the Eastern concept of, "Let food be thy medicine," and started to consider the deeper connections between health and diet. Exploring these principles lead Monika to Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she devoted her future studies.

Monika Konieczka is a Registered Acupuncturist in good standing with the BC regulating body, CTCMA. She has a sincere desire to relieve her clients' suffering with integrity, compassion and a lifelong love of learning. Monika's main areas of focus are pain and sports medicine, digestive health, facial rejuvenation acupuncture, emotional wellbeing, gynaecology and women's health. Her practice includes the use of acupuncture, tui-na massage, cupping, moxibustion, nutritional support and therapeutic yogic coaching.

She has postgraduate specialized training in myofascial pain and acupoint injection. She singularly combines her knowledge of orthopedic acupuncture with the Dr. Vodder MLD lymphatic drainage massage and offers comprehensive pain management care.

Monika is attuned to the mind, body and spirit connection. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with 800 hours of formal international training in India, Thailand, Mexico and Canada. She practices Karma, Laya and Tantra Yoga, studies Hridaya meditation, is initiated in the teachings of the Agamas, Mahavidyas, Bhairava Tantra and Trika, and follows the teachings of the venerated Ramana Maharshi. Monika considers wellness practitioners to be living models of health and harmony. To nurture this commitment she has a daily yoga and meditation practice and regularly attends 10 day silent meditation retreats.

Monika is passionate about combining her knowledge of Western science with Eastern wisdom and esoteric yogic disciplines to address disease and imbalances at the most appropriate level of cause. She believes Integrative Medicine (allopathic and alternative medicine) offers a new and dynamic approach to well-being by merging modern and ancient traditions.

As an attentive and diligent acupuncturist, Monika is dedicated to using her knowledge of TCM, acupuncture and yoga to guide individuals toward balanced, inspired self-care, and, ultimately, to actualize their true 'Ming' ('Destiny' in Chinese).

Detox Abdominal Massage with Acupuncture

The perfect complement to any cleansing program. The purpose of the Detox Abdominal Massage with Acupuncture is to deepen the detoxification process by facilitating the removal of metabolic waste and congestion. Each 60 minute session starts with an acupuncture treatment that promotes circulation and the release of metabolites and toxins. It focuses on the 3 main organs of detoxification: Liver, Kidney and Large Intestines. This is followed with an abdominal massage that releases emotional blockages and stimulates the healing of the internal organs. Select essential oils are used to stimulate lymph and blood circulation leaving you feeling energized and renewed.

Facial Acupuncture Micro-Needling (Dermapen)

Dermapen is the new industry standard for skin micro-needling. It is a safe and effective alternative to laser treatment, and offers skin rejuvenation with minimal recovery time and a decreased risk of side effects.

Micro-needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally-invasive procedure in which tiny, sterile needles pierce the skin, creating thousands of microscopic channels. This activates a healing response in the skin leading to the formation of fibroblasts, release of growth factors, and ultimately deposition of new collagen and elastin. After a series of 2-4 treatments, visible results include: skin firming, tightening, improvement in skin texture, and a reduction in wrinkles and scarring.

Unlike fractional laser therapy, Dermapen does not cause thermal (heat) damage to the skin. As a result there is less redness, swelling, and downtime, and a minimal risk of side effects. This makes it a suitable treatment for all skin types and skin colours, and is an excellent choice for those patients who are seeking results without downtime. You can expect a smoother skin texture and overall brighter skin tone.

Dermapen can improve a number of skin concerns including: Fine lines and wrinkles, Uneven skin texture, Acne scarring, Scars (trauma, surgical, burn, pox), Superficial skin laxity, Vertical lip lines (smoker’s lines), Crow’s feet, and other lines that appear to be ‘etched’ into the skin, Thin, crepey skin, including neck and decolletage.

*Treatment includes body acupuncture and a portion of the treatment is covered by extended health if you have acupuncture coverage. on Facebook
